Planning your wedding in Grand Teton National Park this year? You’re gonna want to pay attention to these Grand Teton Wedding Timeline Tips. Directing your wedding day vendors and making sure we get to all the right locations and photo ops at the perfect time of day can be overwhelming, especially if you don’t live in Jackson Hole. Here are some tips i have accumulated in my time as a wedding makeup artist + photographer. Please note the times listed are subject to change during different seasons, so we will want to go over a more precise timeline as you nail down your date!

Grand Teton Wedding Timeline Tips

Pro Tip

Make sure you allocate enough time for hair and makeup! Your makeup artist team will know how many stylists they need to send according to your bridal party size and can give you an estimate on timing when you book with them. I highly recommend Hair and Makeup by Tanya.

Morning Of

I want to make sure we fit everything you need on your day as smoothly as we can. The way i’ve seen this play out best is if we start with hair and makeup first thing in the am along with breakfast. Even though you wont feel like eating, try to get in something for breakfast. I recommend having your wedding planner or someone in charge of picking up something from Persephone Bakery Their Ham and Swiss Croissant is my favorite. Starting hair and makeup around 11 am gives you time to have your coffee and a slow morning to enjoy while still starting early enough to get the rest of the day going. Depending on your bridal party size hair and makeup usually takes around 2-3 hrs or less.

Afternoon

Around 1 pm is when you want your Photographer to arrive, to get some last shots of getting ready. This way I’m not bugging you while your getting pampered. As i get the last of getting ready ill ask about any stationary detail shots you may have things for and gather those up. I will head off for a few moments while you finish up. I will pop back in around the time you are ready to put things on like shoes, dress hair pins, veil ect.

Pro tip

Designate someone who will be the snack person! getting hungry is going to make for an unenjoyable day and ugly photos. You need fueling snacks every couple hours or dare i say hour after breakfast.

Father and Bridesmaid First looks

At 2-3pm we can do things like a first look with your dad or mom and bridesmaids, even groomsmen! Whoever you want to have this moment captured with we can make it happen. After this i will capture some of the last min ceremony decor shots as well as guests coming in while we wait for the ceremony to begin.

Pro Tip

Decide far beforehand if you want to have a first look with your partner before the ceremony or to have it be down the aisle.

Ceremony Begins

Starting your ceremony around 3:30-4:30pm gives us that late afternoon sun for photographing the ceremony while still leaving plenty of light for the rest of the evening shots.

Family Photos

Let’s face it family photos aren’t fun, nobody wants to do them but they have to be done to please the momma. (Unless of coarse you decide to be a rebel and skip them) which i am so down for. We will get these done as quick as we can around 5pm.

Pro Tip

Snack girl needs to come in clutch right about now, her job doesn’t end after the ceremony starts. This snack break is probably most important. Make sure to designate a snack break in between family photos and yours. Now you may be thinking, but i’m going to eat right after? Just trust me.

Bride and Groom Portraits

By the end of the chaos of the family photos and the lengthy day this is the part every bride and groom wants to skip. Unfortunately that’s unacceptable in my book. Coming from experience of someone who got family photos that i never look at and skipped the photos of just us on my wedding day, you will regret it. Stepping away for a moment of just you two where it is a bit quieter and you can take it all in is very important. I will let you have a few moments of quite to yourselves and then we can start your Bridal Portraits around 5:30-6pm. These are the photos you can display in your home for years to come and the ones you don’t want to miss out on.

Pro Tip

Make sure you let everyone know what time they need to be out for the night. After you two leave that is usually an indicator to people with common decency that its their time to go as well. But you would be surprised on how many overstay their welcome.

Reception

Now for the fun! The rest of the evening you eat, dance, drink and celebrate the beginning of your lives together! This is the part I like to play by ear. If there is something like the first dance, cake cutting, games that you want me to capture we will talk about that beforehand. Leaving you to the rest of your lives! I will capture dancing and any fun photo opportunities i see as well as tender moments of friends and family. 7-9pm
