Why can’t you DIY your wedding florals? Wedding Florals to DIY or NOT. If you’re planning your wedding you either have already found out or are about to find the price of florals is extensive. Flowers are just expensive alone, then add on paying the florist and it is painful. Now don’t get me wrong florists earn every penny they charge and it is well deserved. I thought i’d put together a little guide to help you decide whether florals are something you need to hire out or if you can handle them yourself.
How big is your venue?
The size of your wedding will play a huge role in choosing whether to have a florist or not. How large is your venue space? Are you eloping? If you are hoping for multiple table centerpieces Plus an alter installation, plus you and all your bridesmaid bouquets it may be worth the extra dollar in hiring someone. You probably dont want all that stress of putting things together the day of. If your wedding is going to be a bit smaller scale say you only want your bouquet and some small installations for your backdrop, then i say go for the DIY!
How to DIY your wedding florals
Now how do you do it? There a few options when it comes to DIY-ing your wedding florals. One being waiting until your day, heading to the local grocery store and seeing what they have for floral selection. I would only recommend doing this if you just want your personal bouquet for flowers and nothing else. I’ve seen beautiful bouquets done by brides this way and it was simple and no stress on them. Our local grocery stores in Jackson Hole usually have a great selection of flowers year round for simple bouquets.
Flower Moxie
The second option is ordering your flowers from a whole sale site that doesn’t require you to be a florist. Flower Moxie is a site made for brides who want to DIY their florals. They have a beautiful selection of flowers and even give you recipes with photos of them. I recommend using flower moxie if you are wanting a cohesive color scheme and to diy multiple bouquets and small alter installations. I have personally created this installation for my maternity session with Flower Moxie.
Hiring a florist
Now if you have a specific style of florals in mind for your wedding day that you just aren’t sure you can pull off yourself. Hire the Florist. But do your dang research by golly. Stalk their work and make sure you have faith that they can solidly pull off your vision. Because if you are paying a fortune for florals you deserve to get what you want. I have unfortuneately seen too many unhappy brides on their wedding day because they didn’t get what they expected. And rightfully so, if you have bad florals they can make or break your wedding day and your wedding photos.
Florists I Recommend
I personally have a very specific style i love when it comes to florals and so i feel i am very picky. Honestly it takes a lot to impress me with flowers. So trust my word when i recommend a florist to you. First up we have Historia Florals out of Idaho Falls Idaho. Historia keeps up with the ever changing floral trends, has been featured in multiple magazines and blows me away.

The list is short I know. When planning your wedding your florist is who you will want to book right away to ensure they have availability for your date. you do not want to be stuck with someone you dont love.
