Here are my best Tips to Prepare for a Grand Teton Engagement Session.
HERE FOR THE HIPPIES, COWBOYS, ADVENTURES AND INTIMATE MOMENTS
I specialize in vibey vintage western wedding photography and love small intimate outdoorsy ceremonies. Sound like we would be the perfect fit for each other? Let’s do this dang thing and start planning your epic day together! Fill out my contact form to get started!
Location Scout
Location scouting in Jackson Hole and Grand Teton is pretty easy because there are so many published photos of the beautiful place online. That being said it can be tough to narrow it down to your favorite. You can do this by searching photos from my galleries or other photographer galleries on Pinterest. Send your favorites over to me and if i dont know where they are ill put it on my list to find for you.
Pick your Outfits
First bring comfy shoes and then bring cute shoes. Most places we will be hiking through a bit of scratchy sage brush to get to even if they aren’t a far walk, we wont be on paved roads.
I say to choose clothes that tell your story! Most people think to stick to neutrals but putting yourself in a box like that can limit your sessions potential of being outstanding. If you are a funky couple then bring funky clothes!
Make it a Date
One of our favorite engagement session tips: why not turn your session into a date night for you and your babe? After you’re dressed up, dolled up, and have secured some super adorable photos I think you deserve to carry on the fun and make it a date night. Plan an evening hike through the Jenny Lake trails. With your Bear spray of coarse, i’ve never seen a bear in any of my adventures but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Your session will go by soooo fast. So go ahead and make reservations for a nice dinner after at one of Jackson Holes finest resturaunts, use this opportunity to soak in all the pre-wedding goodness.
Trust the photographer
I have plenty of prompts up my sleeve to get you out of your stiff awkward picture taking selves. All you have to do is trust that i’m not going to make you look or feel stupid. My job is to make you look comfortable and i’ve gotten pretty good at it. Here are just a couple prompts we may have you do to
capture the fun.
Piggy Back Rides
“If physically possible, ask your couple to do a piggy back ride! You will probably get some genuine laughter in the process.
From here you can ask the couple to spin around, walk toward you, walk away from you, etc. This is a great way to get some movement in your photos.”
Walking and Laughing
“Ask your couple to hold hands and walk slowly toward the camera. In this case I will walk backwards as they move toward me. I love to have them look at each other while doing this for some sweet and natural photos.”
FEEL GOOD, LOOK GOOD
Take care of your body mind and soul to prep for your session. That means nurturing your relationship beforehand so you feel like your best selves and remember why you’re in love. Feed yourself nutritious meals and stay hydrated so you are feeling great and looking fresh! Scheduling things like your wedding hair and makeup trial on this date is a fantastic idea as well. Get a manicure or hair cut that week.
